Mrs. Ruth Davis

K-2 / Principal

Mrs. Davis has been teaching for over 25 years, (10 of them at MAPS) from Kindergarten to Junior High. From teaching overseas to creating outdoor education programs, she has sought to instill in her students a desire for learning, build strong readers, create a love for nature, and help them connect to God.

She earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education from Union College. She has a passion for connecting kids to nature and just recently graduated from Southern Adventist University with her Masters of Science in Education with an Outdoor Teaching Education emphasis.

She is married to Pastor Randy Davis and loves spending time with her family. She has 4 young adult children, two who are married, and a beautiful granddaughter. She loves to travel, explore nature, hike, bike, and read.

She is excited to serve as Principal for MAPS. She looks forward to partnering with you to offer a quality academic program, while at the same time connecting kids to nature and helping them develop a relationship with Jesus. She loves working in Christian education and having the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of her students, not only in this life, but in the life to come.

Miss Hannah Olin

7-8 Homeroom

5-8 Social Studies and Language Arts

We are excited to welcome Miss Olin to MAPS for the 2023-2024 school year. She will be the homeroom teacher for 7th-8th grades. She will also be teaching Social Studies and Language Arts for Grades 5-8.

Miss Olin comes to us from Illinois. She graduated from Union College with a Bachelor of Science degree in History Education, and a minor degree in English. She loves sharing her passion for history with her students. She is experienced in working with kids. She has spent 4 summers working at camp, 4 years as a teacher assistant, been a substitute teacher, and taught Sabbath School. She believes teaching is a ministry that God has called her to, and is looking forward to joining our team in the fall.

Mrs. Heidi Rarangol

5-6 Home Room & 5-8 Science and Math

We welcome Mrs. Heidi Rarangol to MAPS as our new 5th-6th homeroom teacher and 5th-8th Science and Math Teacher. We are excited to be welcoming back one of our own alumni.

Mrs. Rarangol has a wealth of experience in working with children. She has worked at summer camp, tutored, and served as a student missionary teaching 6th grade, and most recently taught 5th-8th Language Arts.

She is a graduate of Andrews University with a degree in Elementary Education and an emphasis in math. She seeks to guide her students to a relationship with Jesus and guide them to the tools they need to be successful.

Miss Tammy Morrison

3rd & 4th Grade

We are excited to welcome Miss Tamara Morrison to MAPS as our new 3rd-4th grade teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.

Miss Morrison is coming to us from Oakwood University, where she is graduating this May with a degree in Elementary Education. She brings a wealth of experience in working with children at summer camp, the YMCA, church children's classes and much more.

She has a passion for working with children and finding fun and engaging activities to enhance their learning. She loves adventure and is excited about being part of the MAPS Team

Matthew Davis

3-8 Technology

We would like to welcome Matthew Davis as our 3rd-8th Technology Teacher.

He attended Andrew's University where he studied computer engineering.

He also taught kids coding while he was there.

Mrs. Cheri

Achilles-Wong

Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Achilles- Wong, known as Ms. Cheri was born in Cape town, South Africa. She is married to her husband Ben and has two children, Elaine and Mya.

Before she started working at MAPS, Ms. Cheri was a preschool teacher for the good part of 9 years. She loves children and the smiles that they share.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with friends, family and the outdoors.

Mrs. Kelly Varela

Kindergarten - Aide

Mrs. Varela was born in El Salvador, Central America.

She is married and has two children, Valeria and Jared. She enjoys learning new languages and has a strong passion for art. She has been part of the MAPS family for 9 years, from volunteering on school trips to teachers aide.

Pastor Alex Sarria

P.E. Teacher K-8

Meet Pastor Alex Sarria, your enthusiastic PE class leader! With 8 years of pastoring experience under his belt, he's passionate about health and fitness, and he's ready to make exercise fun. As a level one CrossFit trainer, Alex knows a thing or two about getting fit and staying motivated.

As the associate pastor at Manassas SDA Church and MAPS, he loves working with youth and children, blending physical activity with spiritual growth. Married to his wonderful wife, Suranny, and dad to his energetic son, Maxiel, Alex is also eagerly awaiting the arrival of another baby boy—he’s already dreaming of family workouts!

Prepare for a PE class that’s not just about push-ups and sprints but about enjoying the journey to a healthier you. Get ready to sweat, laugh, and maybe even learn a few dad jokes along the way! Let's make fitness fun together!

Mrs. Natalya Shabykeev

Music Teacher K-4

We welcome Mrs. Natalya Shabykeev as our K-4th Grade Music Teacher. Mrs. Shabykeev graduated with a degree in music. She plays piano and sings. Not only is she a parent at MAPS, but she is also a dedicated volunteer and tutor. We are delighted to have her as part of our team.

Mrs. Moreno

1st-2nd Aide

We welcome Mrs. Moreno to MAPS as our 1st-2nd grade aide. She was born in Venezula and completed her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. In 2018 she completed her Master's degree in Special Education. She most recently taught as an pre-k/k aide at Tidewater Adventist Academy. Her husband serves as a Spanish pastor to three Spanish churches in the Potomac conference, and her daughter attends MAPS. She loves supporting her husband in ministry, spending time with her family and sharing Jesus.
